According to his biography, MOE nie memang dah lama menceburi dirinya dalam bidang music. He started out rapping at a young age of 13, using a poem from a literature textbook as rap lyrics for a Teacher's Day concert and performed in other school events and talentime. Aahhh.. nie baru natural talent! Lepas dia punya ‘O' levels, he went on to learn the Synthesizers and Computer Music Programming. While juggling with his diploma studies and music classes, MOE was selected to represent Singapore in a regional talent show called “Asia Bagus!” in 1995, up to the weekly stages. Fuhh! "Asia Bagus" beb! That was THE talent show in Asia. Untuk korang yang tak tahu, "Asia Bagus" nie is a regional music talent competition showcasing people from all over Asia! Masa tu Idol Idol nie semua tak main beb..
In 2002, MOE decided to restart his musical ambitions yet again. He performed his first gig after 7 years at Youth Park, Singapore. The next year he participated at SGHIPHOP's Open Mic events. From those experiences, he managed to secure a “half-time” showcase during an S-League soccer match at Jurong East Stadium, Singapore.
At the end of 2003, he submitted his song “Beautiful Life” to Channel News Asia's songwriting competition and was selected, among the hundreds of entries; to be featured on a TV Programme “As Real As It Gets!” His 15-minute TV feature was shown on Channel News Asia in January 2004.
He also did a remix of William Hung's "She Bangs" for "Williamhung.net's MP3 Creation Contest", which also once peaked to the highest No. 4 position in "Soundclick.com's World/Reggae Charts". Hehehhe.. lepak siak ni..
After graduating from University by end of 2004, MOE decided to focus on music again, producing beats for hip-hop acts and other artistes in Singapore while concentrating on producing materials for his upcoming demo.

The Demo
Ok, lets get down to business, the Demo has 5 tracks and after listening to all 5 over and over again, I seriously feel that MOE has that unique groove in his tunes. Each track has it's own feel and soul and we loved every minute of it!
Track 02 - Cinta
An English-R&B groove yang bertajukkan "Cinta", the intro was super catchy with it's minor offbeats and sampled tunes. The track contains a sample of “Inikah Cinta” as performed by M.E. (Denny Saba©1999/Copyright Controlled). While sounding familiarly to an already famous R&B song, "Cinta" has it's own melody that puts you in a soulful mood. We love this track!
Track 04 - Lagu Rindu featuring Caprice
Moe collaborated with a young and upcoming Malaysian rapper, Caprice, for the mix of "Lagu Rindu". They never actually sat in the studio together but actually sent each other track samples and mixes over email! With harp tunes accompanied with a straight out R&B beat, "Lagu Rindu" could be better if a higher vocal melody working on various octaves was used. The rap mix was excellent but overall, this track was too monotonous with no change in musical chords throughout. At least for us though.. :)
But nevertheless, pada aku, Demo nie aku kasi 7 out of 10 bintangs! Well done Moe! |
