TIME : 4.30-6.30pm
VENUE : Marine Parade Promenade (opposite Parkway Parade)
Calling all youths!
Come celebrate Youth Month and watch words come alive in "Roots in Motion- Poetry Galore"; an inspirational and fun-filled evening of ethnic poetry fused with dance, music and various arts fringe activities that will enhance your knowledge and creativity.
"Roots in Motion- Poetry Galore" will be held on Saturday, 16 July 2005 between 4.30pm to 6.30pm at the Marine Parade Promenade (opposite Parkway Parade).
Be enthused by original ethnic poems on youth read by our local and prominent Malay, Indian and Chinese poets. Listen and be inspired as the poems underline challenges, aspirations as well as the raw feelings of today's youth. This high energy recital, combined with superb dance choreographies will be backed by ETHNICO, an eight piece musical ensemble. "Roots in Motion- Poetry Galore" hopes to showcase youthful energy through the creative fusion of both contemporary and ethnic arts. The event finale "Racial Joy" is a potpourri of different ethnic dances by our ethnic dancers from Era Dance Theatre, Manimaran Dance Group and MeiHua Dance Ensemble.
Visitors to the arts fringe will also be greeted by a wide spectrum of gifted artists demonstrating their crafts. There will be a henna tattoo artist, balloon sculptor, face painting, origami master, traditional crafts and much more. Visitors are encouraged to try their hands on these crafts.
"Roots in Motion-Poetry Galore" is the second concert organised under the banner of the NAC-Shell Community Arts Series. It is part of a series of free concerts brought to the heartlands, organised by the National Arts Council and sponsored by Shell Companies in Singapore. This event is managed by IMG Promotions.
