Mempersembahkan... SRIWANA! Satu-satunya persatuan budaya melayu di Singapura nie, mereka sudahpon mencapai tahun yang ke-lima puluh! Fuuyyooo... Lama siak.. Itu time pon most of you all blom beranak lagik. Tapi siapa yang tak kenal dengan nama Sriwana betul tak? Bila dengar ada member dating ngan budak Sriwana jer mesti jeles.. hurhurhur.. Anyway, they are proud to announce the inaugural celebration of her 50th Anniversary on the 12th of July 2005! To commemorate this prestigious gala event, SRIWANA akan mempersembahkan sebuah dance-musical theatre production yang berjudul "EMAS", following the success of last year's "Sal5060" which was held on 27 April 2004. With the aim of injecting the spirit of awareness in the traditional values of the performing arts that has been facing the ever-challenging development of modern theatre and of nurturing the young artistic activists, EMAS, THE GOLDEN YEARS", will be fusing together various performances such as dance, music, visual arts and poetry recital. These genres will be portrayed as an amalgamated display of a cohesive and elaborated production, projecting SRIWANA's 50 years of hardship, achievement and glory to this very day.

One significant event would be the presence of Tom Ibnur; a dance choreographer from Indonesia who possesses widespread experience and prestige in the dance community since 1984. This gentleman has provided numerous significant contributions in the establishment and development of Malay dance. His contribution was not only limited to Sriwana but also to the Singapore Malay community as a whole.

Fauziah HanomYusof - Seorang penari / choreographer had been instrumental in the artistic development of the group's performance especially so in the last 5 years. Had co-led the group in several festivals and her numerous creative works had become the platform of the group's fundamentals and inadvertently enhanced the group's repertoire. Fauziah juga has been responsible for the group's new image and had contributed significantly to the success and being of the group as of today.

Yet another highlight of this dance-musical theatre production will be the total live music accompaniment of the renown Sri Mahligai. Fuyyooo.. Live Music beb! Takda main CD punya okay! And as you all know, Sri Mahligai ni ialah sekumpulan pemain music traditional melayu dan setelah mengadakan a successful collaboration last year, Sri Mahligai's live accompaniment will bring the performance to the next higher level.

With such a wealth of collaboration, EMAS will definitely highlight SRIWANA's relevance, contributions as well as its significance to the local arts scene since its first inception in 1955.

A special highlight to this production is the dance workshop which will be opened to all schools & will be conducted on Saturday, 2nd July. Time : 8.30am to 5.30pm. Venue : Taman Warisan (Malay Heritage Center). Fee : $15 per person. The workshop will cover the following areas:

• The correct style, character and dance techniques as well as understanding the art of one's choreography
• Enriching the evergreen dance repertoire so as to ensure their prolonged existence
• New concepts and elements such as modern and contemporary approach to escalate the traditional Malay dance to the next level
• Uniting the establishment and development of the Singapore Malay dance

So sekarang you all pon dah tahu sikit sebanyak tentang Sriwana. So ape lagik? Meh jom kita ramai-ramai pegi ke Victoria Theatre on the 12th of July 2005 to watch them perform 50 years of pure Malay Culture!
